Hello and thanks for reading.

I took my masters test today and could not for the life of me find this one and it is driving me nuts!!!! I am still looking.

The question.....

If you have a service and you use PVC conduit as a nipple to protect the nm cable, which of the following is not true?

a) the pvc must be 12 inches?
b) the nm cable must be stapled 12 inches after leaving the pvc
c) the pvc must be 2"
d)

I know this is not exact, but all I am looking for is a code refrence.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!!!

Hi: I think you may be looking for the change that took place in the '99 code cycle at 373-5(c) Exception...which is now in the '05 NEC at 312.5(C) Exception...

Wisconsin Administrative Code Comm 16.31

Wisconsin Administrative Code Comm 16.31

The only wrong answer is (c) minimum of 2" diameter pipe. Answer (A) is correct it has been changed by Wisconsin Administrative Code Comm 16.31 to be 12". I believe that I got that one wrong on my test also.

Hi I believe that the only wrong answer is (c) minimum 2" diameter. The minimum length is 12" according to Wisconsin Administrative Code Comm 16.31 so that would make (a) a correct statement. I believe that I got that one wrong on my test as I just figured out that it was from Wisconsin Administrative Code Comm 16.31.
good luck with the results of your test.

What about 312.5(C)(a)
Sorry. Misread the Q. I read it as "which one is true". Darnit, why do they do that kind of stuff? This trade is hard enough. Why do they need to try to purposely trick you with odd question structure? Maybe it's just because it's Friday and I'm tired. ;)

I could not have said it better. I had to read it a few times as well.

Have a great weekend.
