Q. about fused disconnect for a 110 VAC electrical enclosure

I do electrical enclosures powered by single phase 110 VAC. I usually have a 30 or 40 Amp Circuit breaker for incoming power which has been okay for customers. A new customer says they want a fused disconnect.

Even though I am only using it for 110 VAC should I get a 3 pole disconnect and use the other poles for neutral and ground?

Or do people do it differently?

Thanks!

You can't fuse the neutral and ground. Square D makes a 1-pole fused disconnect, the L111 rated at 30 amps 120 volts. Otherwise you would need a 2-pole disconnect and just use one pole.

Yeah, nobody cares if you only use one pole of a disconnect. Just as CoolWill says, no fusing on the neutral. You can BREAK the neutral as long as you ALSO break the hot at the same time, but no fusing.
