It goes like this:

Licensing and Certification is Required for Class A Basic Electrical Work
Rules define the term “Class A basic electrical work” identifies work that is exempt from permitting and inspection.
Other considerations:
• Even though Class A work does not require permits and inspections, if you are not the property owner, only
licensed electrical contractors employing certified electricians can perform Class A basic electrical work.
• Nothing in RCW 19.28.041 or .161 provides an exemption from licensing and certification requirements for
performing Class A basic electrical work.

Now, I am building some houses and wanted to do the wiring myself. But my inspector said not so fast -- there's an exemption that if I am going to sell them within a year I can not do the wiring without a license. Ok so I am going for my Admin, will hire a Journey on gig, and enroll mysel in an apprenticeship program so I can wire.

But how does this relate to Class A work? As a teenager I was maintenance man for a 315 unit apartment complex (by myself) and replaced outlets, switches, luminaires, etc all the time. Does this make that no longer possible? I can tell you this rule will be unenforceable and wildly violated.

As owner/developer of my houses, does this mean I can not install outlets and switches in houses I've built and intend to sell, when the Journey is not there 75% of the time?
