As long as you have separate neutrals you're compliant. Can you have two circuits that can't be put on a handle tie feed a quad receptacle? For instance ckt #1 feeds the left duplex and circuit #8 feeds the right duplex.
Yes as Ron stated as long as there is not a MWBC involved a handle tie is not required. If for some reason you decided to put two circuits on each duplex receptacle then a handle tie is required even if you have separate neutrals. Can you have two circuits that can't be put on a handle tie feed a quad receptacle? For instance ckt #1 feeds the left duplex and circuit #8 feeds the right duplex.
The OP mentioned a left and right duplex receptacle so a quad is not on the same yoke.Discussed extensively a few years back. At that time it boiled down to the strict interpretation of the 'quad' receptacle being 1 yoke or not. If the quad receptacle mounts on a single device box as 1 yoke (like an ordinary duplex receptacle) then you must have a handle tie.
15/20A quad receptacle with two branch circuits. (210.4 or 210.7)
I provide two branch circuits into 20A quad receptacle. Each branch circuit is 20A breaker with 3#12 wiring. I am looking at 210.4 and 210.7, it seem to me they don't apply in my case. Am I right? Is there any other section in code requires 'simultaneously disconnect'? 210.7 Multiple Branch...forums.mikeholt.com
