First time post. I have been the qualifying agent for an Electrical Contractor for over twenty years. Recently I have decided to leave the company and start my own contracting business. In Tennessee the license belongs to the company and has 90 days to find a new qualifying agent after I leave. My question is do I have to take the Electrical exam again or is there a way to maybe transfer qualifying agent (me) to my new company?

The absolute best thing to do is to call the licensing board and explain what you want to do.
If they are anything like NC they will be happy to help you and guide you through the process.

You didn’t take the test for the company, you took it so you can be QA for whatever company you're working for, whether or not it's your own company.
