i installed 3 new fluorescent lites,i tied them into two lites that were there.before i put the lites in the radio came in fine when i put the new lites in whenever someone turns on the lites the radio goes crazy.does anyone know what would cause this?

I found that in a commercial job recently that the new electronic ballasts were doing the same thing to the FM reception. I changed them to non electronic and it worked fine.

I had this same thing happen recently with a particular brand of electronic ballasts that were installed by the fixture manufacturer. I don't remember the brand name but the ballast enclosures were made of some type of plastic. If you put your ear up next to the ballast you could hear the amount of noise generated inside with or without bulbs installed. I contacted the supply house and they replaced the ballasts with a different brand and one that had a metal enclosure. Symptoms disappeared.
