I attached a photo below.
Can I use the 90degreeC column if attaching a crimp rated 90degreeC, as shown in that photo but crimp is terminated to 60 degree equipment?
Generally speaking.
I don’t know if the crimp will shunt away enough heat from the 60degree rated equipment/ device.
How does that work exactly? Is that what the book was trying to say?
I know that in “110.14 c “,
“it says ;
[[ that the temperature rating associated with the ampacity of a conductor shall be selected and coordinated
**** so as not to exceed the lowest temperature rating of any connected termination, conductor or device.
Conductors with temperature ratings higher than specified for termination shall be permitted to be used for and passed we’ve just been, correction, or both .]]”
so anyways, I don’t think you can use the 90 degree column to size the wire, if your using 90 degree crimps shown in the photo. You still must size the wire amperage using the 60 degree column, regardless of what’s between the wire and the 60 degree device.
however you can derate using the 90 degree column in 310.15 (B)(16)
Does that sound correct? If so can you send and example calculation for this same scenario selecting wire and wire column?
