Question about a new business

I just recently passed the exam and got my packet in the mail. I sent my info to the board for license, business application and seal along with my proof of insurance the bond and the LLC. Someone had told me that I can do electrical work now while I am waiting for all the approvals. Is that true or false?

I would contact your licensing board before you start doing work. Your so close to being licensed, so it's not worth risking it.
 
Im in NJ. He had told me while he was waiting on his license they gave him some type of temporary card so he can legally do the work while it processes.
