First of all, I am new here and I would like to say "hi" to everyone.

OK back to my question. I've seen some people calculate range load differently based on note 3 of this table. Below are the two different methods.

-2 ovens @ 2.5kw, 1 countertop @ 1.75kw, 1 oven @ 6kw, 1 range @ 11kw.
-Use column C only unless permitted by note 3.

Method 1:
using column A:
3 appliances under this column = 70% demand factor
Add all together: 2X2.5 + 1.75 = 6.75kw
70% X 6.75kw = 4.725kw

using column B:
1 appliance under this column = 80% demand factor
80% X 6kw = 4.8kw

using column C:
1 range under this column = 8kw

Total load for all appliances:
4.725kw + 4.8kw + 8kw = 17.53kw

Under column C for 5 appliances = 20kw. Choose smaller value as above (17.53kw).

Method 2:
using column A:
2 same-load appliances under this column = 75% demand factor
Add two together: 2X2.5 = 5.0kw
75% X 5.0kw = 3.75kw
1 appliance @ 1.75kw = 80% X 1.75kw = 1.4kw

Add together: 3.75kw + 1.4kw = 5.15kw

using column B:
1 appliance under this column = 80% demand factor
80% X 6kw = 4.8kw

using column C:
1 range under this column = 8kw

Total load for all appliances:
5.15kw + 4.8kw + 8kw = 17.95kw

Under column C for 5 appliances = 20kw. Choose smaller value as above (17.95kw).

***My question is: which method is the right method? I always thought that method 1 makes more sense to me.

Thanks for your reply
