Question on a 480 volt drill

I have a 480 volt drill and the nema 00 size starter has a 240 coil will this work on the 480 volt power, the starter is a 480 volt starter, any help would be appreciated.

You will need a 240v source for the control wiring to the coil.
You might be able to change the coil to a 480v but that's not an easy task on some 00 starters.

It’s possible it’s a dual voltage coil, and can be changed to 480 volts by moving jumpers, but those are not that common. A picture would verify it easily.

It will look something like this, it will have four screws, instead of just two.

Is this a machine that was originally set up for 240 volts but happens to have dual volt motor that you want to use @ 480?

If so remember that current will be half of what it is at 240 and you would need to adjust overload protection as well.
