I have seen the denotation 1/C, 3/C and have been told it refers to specifying single conductor or three conductor cable. I just wanted to ask if this is the same thing as saying single core and three core cables?

This site explains the cable types in terms of having single to mulitple cores:

A second question I have, this site explains the difference between a wire and a cable:
http://www.abccables.com/info-wire-cable.html
In short, it describes a wire as being a single conductor and a cable as being a group of two or more insulated conductors. One thing that I have been thinking about is whether these definitions are accepted in the industry?

Thanks

1/c and 3/c are single and three conductor and are the same thing as single and three core. The "core" designation is more common outside North America. Your definition of cable vs wire is generally accepted.
