I took exam this past Saturday. Some of the questions was worded like

"what is the maximum standard ..." One that comes to mind was on the size of a NON fuse. Should I have used the % from Table 430.52, say 300% for a single-phase motor, or 400% from 430.52(c)(1) ex 2(a)?

Thanks,
Ron

Overcurrent protection

Overcurrent protection

When you talk about over current protection you must think about the question in three different ways;
1. The minimum size (taken from the table)
2. The next size up (for non-standard sizes) (but never to
exceed the maximum size)
3. The maximum size (taken from the exceptions)

The NON is a K9 250 volt, type of fuse and is non time delay. If you are using it in the same sentence as article 430.52 the answer would be 300% Max.

I do not remember the questions exactly, and probably shouldn't repeat question if I could. But there was a few with that wording -- "maximum standard." Standard was the word that stuck out. I used the chart, not the exception, and of course there was an answer that matched that. I'm sure if I used the exception that answer would be listed also. I may have got it correct, not sure at the moment.

Thanks for responses,
Ron

That was a solid start!

That was a solid start!

73% out of 100 Shows you are very close. Electrical knowledge appears to be very strong. I believe few pass it on the first try unless they can afford the class or have the time to study. Mike Holt's Exam Prep is a great help for most. Good luck.
