If you have a trough with romex circuits going into it and from that trough two nipples going to a main lug panel and in one nipple is all the neutrals and the other are the hots is the ok by code. Will there be too much heat build up.

Re: question

No, it is not okay.

Is this a real installation, and if so who did it?

Re: question

Roger, you forgot the caps lock.

NO IT IS NOT OK.

The neutral has to be routed with the phase conductors.

Re: question

His profile says "contractor". In my opinion, an electrical contractor wouldn't have asked this question.

Nothing personal, John. The question seems to be a theoretical one, and sounds like you really know better.

Re: question

WOW!...
Think of how much time would be spent to REALLY make that happen.
What happened to the ground? Just cut off where you seperated the hot and neutral?

No don't be foolish. You twist them all together and put a pipe clamp around them!

Re: question

If the nipples were PVC and a slot were cut between them on both enclosures would this comply with the NEC? I've read about cutting slots for this reason but have yet to see a real world application. Could this be one?
