I thought that newer versions of the top two like programs; "sit in a cloud" and
don't sit on your CPU, only your records do.

It all depends on what your driving as a CPU and if your software and or CPU is miss macthed in size(s) this alone with dog any peered conncetion.

Your situation just reminds me of the early windows days where sometimes it's just better to close everything down and boot and just run one program - For Speed!

Peer to peer, get with the 90's on that! :)
