I am in the process of quoting a job, where 2 paddle fans will be added inside a Church's Sanctuary.
Here's the scenario, chairs are used, and can be removed,it's 45 ft to the peak of the ceiling, I can crawl above the trusses to install the wire.
In the past, I have added 10% for every 5ft ,over the first 10 ft, on My rates. I just wondered how others approached these conditions ? It will be 2 of the toughest fan installs I've ever seen. the pitch is an odd angle, and I will have some construction, painting etc. to do at 45' off the floor. Using my current method, I would add 70% to my rate for a 10 ft install, and include the lift rental etc.
Does anyone have a better idea on getting a fair price on these type jobs ?

There's not much more that you can do. Some times when you have a structure that is pleasing to the eye it is a PITA to work on. The price is what the price is.

Whatever you "guesstimate", it's probably not enough

Whatever you "guesstimate", it's probably not enough

When you' re the one up crawling above the joists, remember who's taking the risks with his life. You'll probably be thinking that twice the price would have a been a bargin.

Just like in any estimate, the biggest mistake wins. You' re worring about putting in enough money to overide the risk, and not over-charging; the next guy won't care because he's not the one who's going to have to do the work. Alot of the variance in any bid result can be because of the inclusion of risk vs those who don't know, don't care, & think that they're making money when they're not. That's estimating.
