The qustion was,
When required by NFPA , visible notifacation appliances located on the ceiling over a bed or withinn 16' of a sleeping occupant, shall have min intensity of ....
My answer was 110 candela, well that was wrong??
On the chart in NFPA 72 it shows 2 intensities, 110 and 177. Why would my answer be wrong? I took the review , it shows 177 as answer. I called the State of Florida on this and they said it right, but didn't give an explaintion.

Anyone one know better?

Look at Table 7.5.4.4.2 in the 2002 NFPA 72. Since the strobe is less than 24 inches below the ceiling it must have an intensity of at least 177 cd. In the commentary in the handbook it explains that smoke may accumulate at the ceiling and obscure the strobe.
