Questions have been asked about raceways in raceways, 1/2" flex in 4" rigid conduit, romex in conduits. I can't find anything in the code.

Unless specifically prohibited by the respecitive cable articles, cables such as NM are permitted to be installed in raceways provided they don't exceed the percentage fill specified in Table 1 Chapter 9.
Take a look at section xxx.22 of the raceway articles for conductor fill. New wording was added in the 2005 NEC that clarifed the use of cables within raceways.

Is the 4'' Rigid being used as a conduit or a sleeve would be the first thing I ask, lots of times people are putting in a 4'' what ever as a sleeve then we all come along and put what we need in the "sleeve" to get where we need to get.

The 4" conduit is a existing raceway to a junction box that equipment will be installed in (The raceway is empty with nothing but the three wires we have installed for our 120v, 20 amp receptacle). We need to install a receptacle in the junction box but I feel running the wire out of the 4" into the junction box, into a receptacle box without say 1/2" flex or liquid-tite and using a romex connector would not be safe?, correct? So I was thinking of installing 1/2" flex or liquid-tite and just have it hang in the 4" about 3" or so, all just for a safer box connection. I guess I could install a chase nipple and use wire ties/stickies? I have just never ran into this issue before. There will also be coax cables in box. Thanx

The 4" conduit runs to a j-box, you have wires for a 120v device run in the
4" pipe, correct ? If yes, then nipple a device box to the j-box and your done
with it. Also, you can't just run flex 2 or 3" into a raceway, a raceway has to
be a complete system.
