Raceway requirements for medium voltage cable

Is there anywhere in the NEC or other associated documents where it's clearly stated that medium voltage cable is not allowed in EMT or Schedule 40 PVC? Pretty much every specification I've seen always requres that medium voltage cable to be in either RGC/IMC or concrete encased PVC, but I can't find any document that supports this. Thanks in advance.

EMT and schedule 40 PVC is fine.

I think most MV cable is suitable for direct burial, meaning it doesn't even have to be in a conduit if required burial depths are met.
