Why don't power plants just deliver power radially? 2,500 MW plant, 12 lines, 40,000 customers per circuit, normally open ties between stations.

Could be simpler at the lower voltages. In UK the transmission lines are typically 132kV and 400kV.Technically you would need to double the size of some circuits since power is not coming in from both directions, ie two bundled 1590s vs one 1590 ACSR. I'll give you that, but overall a heck of a lot simpler.

Lots of transmission lines emanating from single source.......................With 115-230kv it would be very simple. Power transformers could also be protected by simple fuses as they rarely fail.

Dunno..............
Yes. Not really my field.Take a look at most large power on Google earth. 12 lines is not unusual when dealing with 230kv and below.
Yes. Not really my field.
I can see that. Mostly my limitation has been 11kV in industrial plants. Just a couple were at 132kV in steel works with large arc furnaces. One or two rights of way 3 to 6 double circuit towers which spread out. Tap out for sub-stations.

Yes.........well................Not much space when a right of way for two 345kv H frames lines can take something like 8 115kv circuits.
The thing is, I'm seriosuly considering burying all MV in none rural areas. Dotting two 15/20/25 transformer stations all over the place and having all the 13.8kv dive into URD. PMH switches and loops through padmounts, or, small kiosks. 240/416Y makes it all easier.
Yes.........well................
We moved house about two years ago so I don't know the location of our local supply is. Our last house was about four houses down and next to a local substation. That one substation supplied 11kV to 400V/230V houses on the street. It's just typical here.
