How is this being addressed in your area ??
It seems a lot of the compression fittings being installed in this area are not listed for rain-tight.
Some of the ones so listed are 3X the cost of those not listed and as a result rarely stocked or installed.
Is this an issue for anyone ?

Not here, we use steel compression, the end nuts are a light blue. When I say we, its the electricians I worked with.

I personally don't see a real world issue with the non-rain tight ones. They leak less than a threaded coupling on rigid or IMC.

I just bought some of both types in 3/4 connector. The indoor versions were just under $80/100 and the raintight ones were just under $200/100. So about 2.5x the price but still affordable and such a small percentage of the materials cost on a job it doesn't really matter. On the otherhand I don't see where the plastic washer and additional sealing ring inside is worth that sort of markup. I also hate they way they look. Is the color part of the listing requirements or could someone feasibly make silver RT connectors?

You need to find a new supplier. I just looked up my cost for 3/4" compression EMT connectors. Standard are $.35 and RT are $1.02

Color is for inspector for easy identification. If it was silver how would he know that you didn't just use a standard instead of a liquid tight? Lol. But, RACO and Hubble both make a zinc coated neoprene washer for liquidtight purposes, I'm sure others make similar. They are sold as a seperate item not on the fitting.

Our suppliers stock the raintight and have been for quite a few years now. We always use them now. If people were required to use them then the supply companies would keep them in stock.

Yes, they are required, but my point is that the threaded conduit coupling that comes with rigid conduit that is also listed, leaks far more than the listed rain tight couplings that are required for EMT.
And besides that, are leaks even an issue? Conductors are required to be wet rated, raceways allowed to drain, entries below live parts, etc....

Actually raceways are required to be arranged to drain only in outside locations. That is not required for inside wet locations. I submitted a PI to change this for the 2020 but not sure what they will do with it.
