I see these EMT fittings advertised that are gold in color and they say they are for outside. Where in the code does it say that regular compression type emt fittings aren't approved? I see where raceways need to be arranged to drain, but not about using suitable outdoor fittings.

Thanks

314.15 requires fittings used in wet locations to be listed for use in a wet location. (This section is referenced by 358.42 for EMT Couplings and Connectors)

The old style compression fittings are no longer listed for use in wet locations.

About 4 years ago UL pulled its listing on raintight EMT connectors, as result mfgs had to resubmit products for retesting, most of those products have some type of O-ring. Also keep in mind not every outdoor location is a wet location.
