Some time ago, one of the threads on box fill showed a picture of a domed cover, sort of a pyramid shaped extension, that gave several extra cubic inches and allowed the connections to be made without having to push the wires back into the box.

Apparently I didn't make a note of it, at least not one I can find. Now I have a use for such a thing, and can't find it.:dunce:

Anybody know what it is?

are you talking for a fixture or a receptacle? Some sort of extension ring? Its fair game to use the extra volume you get by using a mudring.

This was a box cover, probably for a 4 x 4. You wouldn't put it on a wall, but up on a ceiling it would be fine.

I think you're thinking of a Rack-a-Tiers products. Looks like a painted white pyramid?

I think that's it.
