Range Hood

Hi, recently was at a dwelling job and noticed that range hood was on an actual GFI receptacle (cord & plug) and trying to understand whether or not GFI protection was needed. The sink was on opposite side of kitchen and not within 6’. The hood was on a dedicated circuit. I read 422.16.b4 as well as 210.8 and cannot seem to pinpoint.
any insight will greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

I assume the receptacle was in the upper cabinet. If so then the receptacle is not there to serve the countertops so no gfci is needed however, it would need to be on a dedicated circuit.

Maybe it was in the mfg specifications. Or what was there prior had such mfg requirements. Just a possibility I've seen before.
