Fire alarm systems.
FWIU, which is little, fire alarm systems can track rate of temperature rise, not just the temperature in an area. What is a typical rate of rise limit?
I monitor my attached garage temperature to make sure it stays above freezing. Might as well add rate of rise limit.

When I was a firefighter in school, which was a different era, rate of rise detectors were something with a diaphragm and switch with a calibrated hole drilled in it. If the rate of rise exceeded the size of the hole, the diaphragm would swell and actuate the switch, tripping the alarm system. I never did know what the actual rates were, that was the FA company's job. But I assume there are standard rates.
