ghostbuster:

Very poor demonstration from an engineering or science point of view.

I would have no trouble building a circuit that made a meter needle move higher as I approached a CFL, and not relative to a standard incandescent.

True that a mercury vapor arc produces ultraviolet output. A much more controlled experiment would be required to prove cause and effect.

I have a CLF 4 feet from me and no sunburn. Same for 8 ft Slimlines. In the case of 8 footers it is many years.

There may be issues with CLF, but this video does not prove it.

This video is a joke.

There is nothing solid presented in the entire thing. Even when they bring out a PhD (an expert in her field, even!) with a meter of some sort, they don't tell you what the meter is meausring. They just say "big numbers are bad."

This is the meter she was using.

The website actually says it is Certified by the Government of Kazakhstan. Now I trust it completely!! All they need is for Borat to show me how to use it!!

The guy with the needle was even better. The 1000 V/m electric field is flowing through his body and going to ground.

Using the Microsurge Meter for a Typical Home Installation
Microsurge meters measure the levels of safe, borderline, or dangerous levels of "energy" present. These levels are conveniently shown on the back of the meter for reference. These levels have been developed through research (much of it in Russia and neighboring countries) and confirmed by experience in North America. The levels have been adopted by the Sanitory Stations (Health Departments) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Yeah, great scientific sales pitch. They talk like it's measuring radiation that will melt your skin. Fear sells. Politics and merchandice. They don't even say why the danger level is hazardous. But it's confirmed by experience! I get too cynical and depressed with people. I need a hug.
