re-bar down conductor

high rise building used re-bar of structural as a down conductor for lightning arrester. if re-bars spliced based on structural standard, were the continuity affected? is the system safe?

As long as the rebar meets the requirements of 250.52 (A) (3), it is part of the grounding electrode system and the lightning arrestors should be connected to the rebar or any other part of the grounding electrode system.

Let's get one thing clear: are you talking about a lightning arrestor, as used with an antenna or communications wire? Or are you talking about a lighting protection system discharge electrode (lightning rod)?
