I've got a situation where a co-worker is planning on re-installing a compressor controller into an mcc. The problem is that the controller's wires and buss clips were damaged when a fault occurred. The buss bars were also damaged (melting and discoloration). My suggestion was to replace the damaged buss bars (about 18" long each), drill and tap them, mount lugs to the bars, and connect NEW WIRING from the lugs to the controller's breaker. This would eliminate the buss clips, which were obviously not making a good connection and would ensure that this situation wouldn't happen again. My co-worker, along with management, think my recommendation is overkill and unnecessary. Is there anything out there as far as regulations go that would disallow such a piss-poor re-installation? To make matters worse, I've been asked to help out with this fiasco.
