I'm in NYC. I was debating with a co worker about the amount of receptacle outlets allowed on a 20 amp ckt in a dwelling unit. I actually went thru the NEC 210.52 and I couldn't find it. Please enlighten me on this topic or let me know where to look exactly in the NEC code book

You can have as many as you want. There is no restriction in the NEC.

Those references are fine with a commercial application and will offer some reasonable margins for a residential application. However, in residential applications these references would not apply.

I would submit the APP recepts are not general type use as they are specifically required & added to the load calculations and are not defined in 220.14(J) therfore meet the criteria of 220.14(H). 220.14(H) is not specific to commercial IMO.

Disagree...but to each his own.

220.14(H) specifically states "in other than dwelling units". 220.14(J) is already included in general lighting calculations and does not need any more consideration.

220.14(H) is titled "fixed multioutlet assemblies". I guess it is not really clear what they mean though and a duplex receptacle may be covered by this, but I'm thinking the intent maybe something like plugmold or other multioutlet assemblies of that nature.

But regardless, within the first sentence of 220.14(H) it has the words "used in other than dwelling units" so anything mentioned after that point in this section is meaningless to a dwelling application.

True, My reference should have been 220.14(L) -- but that does not alter your thinking

You are correct that it doesn't alter my thinking:)

(L) covers anything not mentioned in (A) through (K) and dwelling unit outlets are already in (A) through (K).
