I was wondering. does NEC specify for metallic receptacle and switch covers to be used in office areas of industrial shops. All metal covers in the manufacturing area of course, but what about maybe the office of that shop (finished walls etc).. Also, does the NEC specify anything about using pvc conduit in industrial shops/plants? Thanks for your time!

The conduit system has to be designed for that area.
NEC is silent on the cover plates. Unless they are metal and have to be bonded.

Uses allowed for PVC conduit is 352.10
Often metal covers are required in job bidding specs. I had one job that required malleable covers, They were too thick to allow a plug in wall transformer to be used, so went with a sheet steel cover (on FS boxes)
