Receptacle identification

517.30(E) is not giving any specific colour identification of receptacles for different branches of normal and essential electrical system.
Any idea??

In most cases it is red but it can be any color other than what is used for the Normal Branch receptacles as long as it is standardized through out the facility.

I've seen orange used for standby power receptacles.

I have seen blue...based on the code call of "code blue" for a patient emergency.

No soecific requirements except for local changes.


In Washington a state NEC amendment requires orange for emergency power, including receptacles.
