Receptacle installation

Hello, I am trying to determine if there is there a code violation for mounting a GCFI directly on the AC input panel enclosure. Panel is 1 phase 3w 120V.

Thanks

I don't understand the question.

What type of GFCI (breaker, receptacle, other)?
What is an AC input panel (or to what does it supply the input)?
Is this the main service panel to a building, or is this a special type of equipment?
What code section is requiring a GFCI for this application?

What I was asked to look at was an AC input panel 60 amps to feed an an alarm terminal strip, high temperature alarm (Dwyer)and air condition loads. A GFCI convience outlet is mounted directly on the AC input panel.

I am trying to determining mounting a convience outlet on the panel itself is a code violation. Thanks

So then, do I correctly understand that you are looking at a breaker panel that has a receptacle (presumably within a 2x4 box) screwed (or attached in some other way) to the outside of the panel?

If that is what you mean, I only know of one possible code article that would prohibit it. 110.3(B) says you have to install and use listed equipment in accordance with the instructions on the listing. It is possible that putting screws or bolts into the side of the panel might invalidate the manufacturer's listing. But I am not sure.

Any other thoughts?

Hi there
I agree with charlie, but I am thinking if you would use 4x4 box and mount it to the side of the service with the chase nipple you would not have to drill the holes in the panel. Instead you would use the knockout hole.
