receptacle on island

Good day Guys and Gals.

Went for a walk through on a house I was asked to wire and noticed it was a slab foundation and owners are wanting an island. Besides cutting a groove in the slab and installing some type of wire way in the groove, what else can I do to get the cable for the receptacle installed? Seems like my only option but I wanted to ask to see if there may be an easier way.

Either that or a power pole from the ceiling.

And it will be more than a groove you will be cutting. You need to get under the slab with some conduit.

If you use a 1/2" raceway you'll only need a groove about an inch or so deep.

No. I believe 300.4(F) will permit a shallow groove.

Install a sleeve and make sure you use UF cable in the sleeve-- not nm

Or perhaps get the GC to run some sort of chase to the island location.

Yes 300.5 is for underground installations.

300.5 Underground Installations.
(A) Minimum Cover Requirements. Direct-buried cable
or conduit or other raceways shall be installed to meet the
minimum cover requirements of Table 300.5.
