examples;
1- I have a 25' lenght of continuous hall with no doorways, how many receptacles are required?

2- Same length of hallway in which door breaks are at every 9' on both sides, how many receptacles are required?

3- A T shaped hallway each part of the T is 9' long with no doorways, how many receptacles are required?

4- Same T shaped hallway with a door break in the middle of one side of each 9' section, how many receptacles are required?

(H) Hallways. In dwelling units, hallways of 3.0 m (10 ft) or more in length shall have at least one receptacle outlet. As used in this subsection, the hallway length shall be considered the length along the centerline of the hallway without passing through a doorway.

My answers:

1 - only one receptace required

2- not sure what you have, but if you walk the center line of the hallway and do not pass through a "doorway" or equivalent it is still one hallway

3- at least one receptacle in each straight run? maybe need 3 total, depends if the "T" is considered a "doorway" or equivalent.

4- again not quite sure what you have but same answer as to #2.

That much hallway is likely getting some receptacles anyway in most instances so minimums are generally easy to meet. If you don't put some in there you will be cursed by the designer and/or the woman of the house for not doing so in most cases

I think it is a good time to drop this section in.

90.1 Purpose.

(B) Adequacy. This Code contains provisions that are con-sidered necessary for safety. Compliance therewith and proper maintenance results in an installation that is essentially free from hazard but not necessarily efficient, convenient, or adequate for good service or future expansion of electrical use.

Unless I am misunderstanding your examples, only one receptacle is required in each of the examples.

Only one in each example.

This was my answer. You don't pass through doors in any of those situations. It does not say anything about a wallspace being "broken up" by a door. It says if the centerline of the hallway passes through a door.
