I would like to add another outlet to a residential garage to supply an irrigation system that is plugged in. There is already outlets installed to satisfy section 210.52(G)1 on a 20A GFCI circuit. I would like to take the feed for this outlet from a near by 15A lighting circuit and install GFCI outlet from this circuit to plug it into. Is this code compliment to 2020 NEC ?

As long as you have the required receptacles, which you say you have, there is no problem adding another off a different circuit.

The change in language in 210.11(C)(4) for the 2020 was made to make it clear that additional receptacle branch circuits of any amperage can supply receptacles other than those receptacles specifically required by 210.52(G)(1).

In the 2017 code it was not clear if you could have other circuits supplying additional receptacles.
