Receptacle reverse polarity

A standard duplex receptacle wired reverse polarity fed off the load side of an upstream GFI Receptacle.

Would the GFI ever know the difference?

I don't know that it would, and, haven't had the time to bench test that scenario.

No. The GFCI measure the hot amps versus the neutral amps and trips if they go out of balance.

Polarity only matters to loads that care about which line is grounded, or lampholders with screw-shells.
