Not that it is all inclusive, but what you're probably looking for is in article 210.

Not really sure what you're asking, so here's my best shot.

210.21(B)(1)
A single receptacle on an individual branch circuit shall have an ampere rating not less than that of the branch circuit.

406.2(B)
Receptacles and cord connectors shall not be rated for not less than 15 amps, 125 volts, or 15 amps 250 volts....
