GFCI requirements are in 210.8(A). If it is within 6' of a sink you need it, otherwise no.

GFCI requirements are in 210.8(A). Since it is a kitchen you don't need to worry about a sink, so no.

don't forget TR also

-- the little tykes like to crawl behind refrigerators with paper clips you know !

of course, after the fridge trips off due to afci, gfci, et. al. you can poison everybody with spoiled food, but gotta get the mfg. profit margins up!

Yes, but since its inside, you can at least save a dollar and use the regular GF/TR receptacle. If it were outside you would need a weather resistant GF/TR/WR receptacle.

Not to mention the weather proof cover, which might have to be "while in use" or even "extra duty" while in use :?

Well at least they require the GFCI to be accessible, so at least you can easily reset the fridge after it's been tripped off all day, to get all that spoiled food nice and chilled before eating :)
