I'm reviewing a design for a baggage screening system, and I've noticed a lack of convenience receptacles near the conveyor motors. My supervisor tells me that the NEC requires a receptacle to be installed within x number of feet of each motor, but I can't find such a requirement anywhere. I'm familiar with 210.63, but that only applies to Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration equipment.

Is there a Code section similar to 210.63 that requires a receptacle to be installed near all motors? In the case of the plans I'm reviewing, I think the designer should add them for ease of future servicing, but I need to know if it's a Code requirement.

Given the prevalence of battery powered tools and work lights, I am not sure what use the convenience outlet would be in your situation.
For HVAC the service tech may need to operate a refrigerant scavenging pump, which is hard to find with battery power.

No such requirement. The section you cited is as close as you will get.

Thanks for the replies, guys. That's what I figured, but I wanted to get some confirmation before telling the boss he's wrong. :)
