does a receptacle that is locaated wiht in 6 foot of a drinking fountain neeed to be gfci protected. I know from 422 that the drinking fountain has to be gfci protected. but do you need to follow the rules like it is a sink. anything with in 6 foot of sink must be GFCI protected. if not wht section is it stated in.

no its not required. Its not a sink - it doesn't normally hold water like a sink can.

There is no paragraph that will say that, because they don't normally put what is not required in the code.
