receptical ground up or down

in mike's 2005 understanding the nec authors comments, states receptical ground orientation isnt specified. Is there a change for 2008?

There is no change about this in any year code.

Should a receptacle be installed with its ground connection point up or down?

You know I worked with a guy who felt very strongly that the ground had be up! But I noticed most of the younger guys just don't care. :smile:

I've been working in hospitals for the past few years so I am used to putting the grounds up.

I turn all mine around so the plug face is inside the box. Let them figure out how to get power out of it themselves.

Actually I heard the NFPA is going to ban the use of receptacles in the 2011 cycle, until the industry can actually learn the proper orientation of the receptacle. Can you believe that???
