Recessed lights over a bath tub are allowed because in 410.10 D, they are not mentioned, correct ? Only lights that protrude down require the 8' rule, but recessed lights can be less than the 8' ?

Yes a recessed can light can be installed over a shower within the shower zone. If subject to shower spray they need to be rated for wet locations otherwise damp location lgihts would work.

Just did a master bath shower that has four 3” recessed, one led light bar over a waterfall, a $3400 lighted rain head! 9’ ceiling though! The rest of the bath has twelve 4” recessed, four wall vanity lights, and two exhaust fans! And almost forgot, a color changing led strip recessed into the ceiling tray the entire perimeter of the bath room!

My ! What a job ! Once I had to install a fogless mirror in a tiled shower wall. I didn't realize people shave while showering. Somehow it didn't seem right to have electric in a shower wall. It was made for it, we had to gfci protect it of course. Heated shower floors also seem strange to me.

I guess if I was wanting to waste some $$$ I have much different ideas of what to waste it on :)

Just of interest are like these recessed over the bath tube?

They are 12V halogen. I don't see those as a problem but maybe that's just UK.

I have for most of my life. But then, I don't use an electric razor.
