I have recessed luminaires that say the above. I need to take a 12/2 MC in and out of most. Do I need to take a 12/2 AC or EMT and wire into each? Did the manufactures translation of the instructions miss the EGC? Measuring the J-box its painfully evident that there are enough cubes for 2 MC's.

Thanks

Who knows what the mfg did.. Personally I would ignore it and wire in and out with MC if the box is obviously big enough. There is no way they were expecting no equipment grounding conductor as they probably have a ground wire in there for that purpose.

If you think the inspector may look then give him a call.

I hate to say it as most inspectors around here are very knowledgeable and a true pleasure to deal with but in this jurisdiction the inspectors are about as sharp as a bag of hair.

Getting 12/2 AC would be a special order here. (12/2 without EGC)

Go with the mc- tell the authority having jurisdiction I give my permission. They are probably talking about 4 cables???? What is the model and brand of these cans?
