The State of Virginia reciprocates with North Carolina. North Carolina reciprocates with other states Virginia doesn't. If one were to get a license in NC with a Virginia license by reciprocation, could you then get the other licenses in other states without any issues?

I'm on the other side of the map and have a similar question about the states that reciprocate with WA:confused:

What states are you looking to get other than NC? I know for sure KY reciprocates with VA and OH.

I think the answer is no.

Georgia and Florida will only reciprocate licenses that were earned by passing a test; so you couldn't reciprocate a license with them that you received by reciprocation.

Also, if you were grandfathered into your state licensing system, you cannot reciprocate.

This is referred to as a "double bounce" and it is not allowed. Nearly all states require you to test in the state that you are reciprocating from. I am currently licensed in 41 states, so I know first hand about most states requiremnets to reciprocate.

We've done work for Siemens Dematic(or maybe it's just Dematic now?) before, wiring conveyer in Walmart Distributions, etc. I'm told they have a guy that works for them that takes all the different states electrical tests so they have a license in whatever state they choose to work. Is this similar to what you do?

I can't imagine trying to keep up with all the continuing education.

How many tests did you actually have to take? Did you have to have verification of time for each state?

I call it getting licensed thru the back door. Some states may not require verification on how the other license was obtained, they only require that you actually have one.

That was my thought are the licenses marked or have a special number that identifies then as a reciprocated license?

Nope.

In MD, for example, that information is presented in a letter sent out by the Board. It will show how the license was obtained, whether by grandfathering, examination, or reciprocity, and the date issued.

If no such letter is presented or required, then the license itself may be prima facia evidence of qualification.

Your mileage may vary.

I would doubt the validity of that claim until I see answers to these four questions.

Truthly guys, I could care less if you believe the validity of that claim. I was simply responding to the op's question with first hand knowledge. Unlike many on this forum who feel they have to respond to every single post (whether they have any knowledge of the subject or not) I do not respond unless I have some knowledge that is of use. I see many post on this forum that I doubt, but I do not comment on them. But since my truthfulness has been questioned, I will attempt to answer your four questions:

How many test did I take? I have actually taken 42 state exams nationwide. This includes exams for Master Electrician, Electrical Contractor, Journeyman, and Business & Law exams. Now I know some of you are not going to believe that I am licensed 41 states, and have taken 42 exams. But a lot of states require a master license and an EC license, and some states require a B&L exam in addition to the electrical exams. The state of Massachusetts requires a Journeyman and Master license.

Am I making money in 41 states? Well since I can only live in one state at a time, I guess I am only making money in my home state. But yes, I am well compensated by my employer who has a need for these licenses.

Renewal fees in 41 states? Paid by my employer.

Can I remember all the states? Well we do have computers these days that can make these things called Excel spreadsheets. If you are not familiar with them, you should educate yourself.

Continuing Education? It is taken care of between live seminars that I attend yearly with a couple of providers- MH being one of them. In fact, Ilene at MH takes great care of all my CE needs.

Back door licensing?? What in the world is that? Trust me, if there was a back door avenue available, I would have found it before I sat for all these exams. In fact, every state had to verify my experience and education before allowing me to test. Probably more so since I was from out of state (and not one of the boys). I have tested with Prometric, ICC, Lasergrade, PSI, and all of the various states that self administer their exam.

I hope this answers some of your questions, but quite frankly I could care less if it does or doesn't. Just a little advise to some of you- please have some knowledge of the post that you are responding to. Just because someone has more knowledge in a certain area than you, that does not automatically make them a liar.
