Can anyone reccomend a brand of magnetic reed switch for activating lights in a number of cabinets? I have the LED strips (Kichler), I have a RIB device to control the switching of the power supply for the LEDs. But I only see very expensive magnetic switches (~$80 or more ea) or real junk. There must be quality magnetic switches out there for $20 or less?? Thank you.

I have found what I was looking for! McMaster-Carr makes a number of reed switches with magnets. They have locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, LA & New Jersey!

Most reed switches close when the magnet is engaged. Make sure you get a switch that closes when the magnet is withdrawn, or you'll have to wire it so your RIB is energized except when the cabinet is opened.

I've used the relay based RIB devices before and I didn't care for the on/off delay. I used the solid state Amprobe RC-120S instead and it was very responsive, but I think they discontinued it for some reason. Not sure if there is something similar enough.

Ever think of switches used for security systems? They come in various configurations and are made to be used with doors.
