What are you talking about? I have seen some local codes that require certain service use color coded duct, but there is no NEC requirement.

Re: red concrete

On the jobs I am on it is often in the job specifications to use red dye for concrete duct banks.

We order normal concrete let it get poured then just fling out the dye on top of the wet concrete. We use a stiff broom to brush it in, it works great.

The dye is cheap, a couple of bucks for a 5 lb bag, get it at a masonry supply house. Wear gloves when handling it unless you want red hands for a long time. ;)

Re: red concrete

NEC does not require red concrete but we always use it for medium voltage duct banks & sometimes for very critical 480v. duct banks (like fire pumps).

We have used the dusting method with dye, but much preferred is to add it to the slurry while it is still in the truck. So what if truck driver has to wash truck out more thorough than usual.
