refrigerant lines above panelboards

Can refrigerant lines run above panelboards and if so is there a minimum/maximum clearance?

110.26(F)1 applies. If refridgerant lines are over the panel a drip pan deflecting any water is usually is installed and is required to be 6 feet above the panel.

I agree. The space directly above the panel, to a height of 6 feet above the top of the panel, can have no pipes. If there are pipes more that 6 feet above the panel, then there must be a drip shield, and even it muse be more than 6 feet above the top of the panel.

You can run the pipes over the working space, as long as they are 6.5 feet over the floor level.

My skull is 6.5 feet over the floor level if I'm wearing boots. My scalp is hanging from those pipes over the work space back there...

I wish they'd make it 6'9" to match doorway height
