There is a Relief fan for which i will be using in an mechanical room. It will be controlled by a Relay and a starter disconnect. The relay is controlled by a control circuit.

Does there exist any NEC codes that governs the design criteria on how this relay is applied.

Yes their are nec codes for every thing dealing with electrical.

Are you controlling it by a thermostat, how many amps is the motor?
