Hey all, I just purchased the new code book as Massachusetts adopts the new code pretty much right away. I waited until they had the book for sale with the MA amendments printed in it.

Now that I've pulled some new permits this year (earlier this year all projects had permits pulled last year) I'm wondering if there are any tricky code changes.

Things like electric 240v ranges being ground fault protected, arc-faults in unfinished basement spaces, etc.

I'm going to see if my online code refresher course is updated and ready to go soon, but I have a couple inspections in the next couple weeks and wonder if any of you have any codes that are significant and have the chance to be overlooked and problematic if cited at inspection.

For me the best way to keep up with the code changes is Mike Holt's book Changes to the NEC. I have every one of his triennial code change books going back to something like 2005.

I get that. I will go through my book and look at the shaded areas and notes and such. I usually look through the MA amendments, and go to the article and note that there's a MA amendment about it.

I really just need the changes in the first few chapters. On the occasion I do stuff in later chapters like pools or whatever, I'm just going to look it up before doing it because I don't do that stuff much.

So I was just hoping there were some changes that people have been talking about that I might not have heard about.

I recognize that I should try to talk to more electricians and read this forum more often, but there's just a lot going on in my life that I don't want to discuss here that makes it hard to set up time for that.

Mike Holts 2023 code change text is $70, it’s asking a lot for us to lay out the changes for you. What if we miss one that is important to you?
Or here is an article by Mike
