We have one existing electrical panel (480V/277V) located in the yard and 5 feet away from building driveway (in front of building), this panel serves (2) parking lot lighting circuits, several tree mounted lighting circuits, sprinkler control panel. Now, they enlarge the driveway, the new driveway will run into panel spot.

All existing conduits exit from panel are underground.

What is best solution to relocate the panel and still minimize power downtime for parking lot lighting
plus possible to re-use existing conduits, wiring from panels to its existing load? Thank you!

I saw some pictures of hand holes without knockouts ...so I am wondering how we terminate conduits to it?

Make sure the box and lid you use is traffic rated.

If your taking the panel out, will the little bit of extra cable that used to go up into the panel get you past the edge of the drive? If so, extend your conduits as much as possible, then you don't have the box in the drive area at all.

If we have (10) 1" conduits, do they make a box to terminate them? Will this be a prefab, custom handhole order?
Do you recommend any manufacturers?

If the box gets large enough you come into the side because it will get deep, and eventually, instead of calling it a hand-hole, it becomes a manhole. Difference is one you stick your hand in, the other you can climb in.

Should be standard issue, but still may have to order it. Check with your local electric supply house.

here in Wa state that wouold be a Type 5 J-box--standard item up here for roadway work---conduit just turns up into the box from the bottom and is sealed with duct seal
