Anybody have a good way (read inexpensive) to switch a 480V, 3 phase 100 amp load from 1000 ft away?.

i have a cheaper way.

use a disconnect switch. Attach a spring to the handle holding in the off position. Then run a rope from the handle to a pulley above the disco and route the rope through a series of pulleys to your operator location. Due to the length, you should use a low stretch rope for this. Pull the rope, the switch turns on, let go of the rope and the spring returns the switch to the off position. You could also run a second rope parallel to the first, with a small counterweight hanging from it at the operator location. This will give you a positive indication of the position of the handle on the switch. :D
